Target groups

The Netherlands Institute for Heritage is a contact and information centre for many different parties.

Primary target groups

Institutions and organisations in the heritage field, such as:

  • monuments and sites
  • archives
  • landscape and conservation organisations
  • museums

Private organisations, for example:

  • archaeological and historical societies
  • private conservation organisations
  • "friends"

All these target groups have a common interest in the use, management, preservation and accessibility of cultural heritage. By listening and keeping an open mind to everyone's viewpoint, The Netherlands Institute for Heritage can build bridges between heritage institutions, government organisations and private initiatives.

Secondary target groups

Second-line institutions, for example provincial heritage centres and other regional offices in the heritage sector, are also part of The Netherlands Institute for Heritage's target group. The Netherlands Institute for Heritage is part of the national network of arts and cultural facilities (the Basic Infrastructure). That means that the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science can assign The Netherlands Institute for Heritage specific tasks.

Abroad
The Netherlands Institute for Heritage is a central information and coordination point for foreign organisations and institutions when it comes to heritage-wide activities in the Netherlands.
