Cooperation
The Netherlands Institute for Heritage cooperates with a large number of partners at international, national and regional level.
Government agencies
The Netherlands Institute for Heritage regularly consults with the various government departments operating in the heritage sector. Each department operates in its own field, based on its collection, its expertise and its position within the sector. The Netherlands Institute for Heritage wishes to show how the agencies interrelate and make the connections useful for the heritage sector.
National institutions
The Netherlands Institute for Heritage wishes to cooperate with:
- national institutes and heritage institutions: joining forces;
- higher education: intensification and reflection;
- organisations on the periphery of the sector: exploring the boundaries of heritage;
- ministries like the ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW): specifying system tasks and devising new policy; Foreign Affairs (BZ): international cultural policy; Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV): landscapes; Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment (VROM): townplanning;
- Association of Netherlands Provinces (IPO), the Association of Netherlands Municipalities (VNG): coordinating heritage policy.
Heritage centres
Heritage centres help to transpose national policy to the regional level. They work closely with local institutions and volunteer organisations and have their own provincial and regional networks. The Netherlands Institute for Heritage wishes to cooperate on a permanent basis with heritage centres and join them in exploring opportunities to reach explicit cooperation agreements. There is much to be gained by cooperating, for example in such areas as continuing professional development, quality assurance and collective promotion.
