The Netherlands Institute for Heritage is the sector institute for heritage. The institute endeavours to enhance the position of cultural heritage in society, emphasise the importance and meaning of cultural heritage in general, and in particular of archaeology, archives, museums, and historic buildings and monuments. This results in activities to envision cultural heritage (reinforce the position of heritage in society); encourage the use of heritage (innovative developments) and link cultural heritage to other sectors (take a platform function). Both on a national as well as an international level.
