The Centre for International Heritage Activities (CIE) orgasizes in cooperation with the Netherlands Institute for Heritage (Erfgoed Nederland) and the University of Amsterdam the Heritage Day Russia. The Russian Federation is one of the eight priority countries appointed by the Dutch Ministries of Foreign Affairs (BZ) and Education, Culture and Science (OCW) for cooperation in the field of mutual cultural heritage. Grand Café Mediterranée

As part of Grand Café Mediterranée The Netherlands Institute for Heritage (Erfgoed Nederland) organizes a discussion in which different perspectives are given on the handling of museum collections from the Middle East and the Arab region. It addresses the collaboration for an exhibition between the Amsterdam Historical Museum (AHM) in the Pera Museum in Istanbul, within 400 years of diplomatic relations between Turkey and the Netherlands. Grand Café Mediterrannée is an initiative of the Centre for International Cultural Activities (SICA). During the day from all cultural disciplines projects, films, videoclips and other examples of cooperation with the countries of the Middle East and the Arab world are presented. Marronage and Marron Communities: A Common Atlantic History?

Tropenmuseum, Amsterdam - 1 april 2010

The Atlantic World and the Dutch (AWAD), a partnership between Erfgoed Nederland, KITLV and Nationaal Archief, in cooperation with KIT, organizes an Atlantic Day on marronage and maroon communities in the Atlantic. A panel of renowned experts including Prof. Alex van Stipriaan Luïscius (KIT & Erasmus University Rotterdam), Dr Linda Rupert (University of North Carolina Greensboro and Scaliger Institute, Leiden University), Dr Rômulo Xavier (University of Pernambuco), Andrea Mosterman MA (Boston University) will present their recent projects and research findings on marronage in a discussion and public debate. Presentations and discussion will be in English.  Participation is free; however to enter the Tropenmuseum there is an admission fee. Before the meeting, with the entrance ticket, you may visit the current exhibition Art of Survival. Maroon culture from Suriname. European Architectural History Network (EAHN 2010)

21st International Congress of Historical Sciences

The next congress of the International Committee of Historical Sciences (ICHS) is organized by four organisations: the Netherlands National Committee: Koninklijk Nederlands Historisch Genootschap (KNHG), Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA), Koninklijke Bibliotheek (KB), International Institute of Social History, (IISH). The International Congress of Historical Sciences takes place every five years. This Congress provides an ideal venue for extensive reports, papers, debates, exchanges, and meetings reflecting historical research in action. It is the meeting place for the global community of historians. In recent years the Congress has been held in Madrid (1990), Montreal (1995), Oslo (2000), and Sydney (2005).

10th International Conference on Urban History

The European Association for Urban History (EAUH) was established in 1989 with the support of the European Union. Conferences are organised every two years. These biennial conferences provide a multidisciplinary forum for historians, sociologists, geographers, anthropologists, art and architectural historians, economists, ecologists, planners and all others working on different aspects of urban history. This invitation is extended to all scholars who make urban history a distinctive and innovative subject.
